Effort and approach to CO2 reduction
Our problem solving technique revolves around using a set of 7 focus points that have been tried and proven in the workplace to save energy a reduce the production of CO2.
* The 7 focus points are 'Decide, Stop, Fix (review), Reduce, Sort, Change, and Utilize.
Control
- Reduce energy loss through optimizing operation efficiency.
- Data was gathered by watching how much energy the cooling tower consumed when left constantly running. Realizing that the cooling tower would be more efficient by manually being able to control the operation duration, the settings of the device was changed.

Stop, Change
The pump become more efficient
- Renewal of pump and removal of inverter to reduce power usage.
- The pump was originally configured with an inverter that was deemed unnecessary and was removed to reduce power usage.

Repair
Small activities can carry big results.
- Air hose repair
- Routine repair to devices leaking air can reduce energy usage but reducing the run time of such items as compressors.

Store
- Installation of a storage battery, Change of circuits to reduce energy usage.
- Through the use of a storage battery, the energy generated from the solar panels in during the daytime can be used during the night, reducing energy usage.

Reduce
By decreasing the working load, cooling is done more efficiently.
- Decrease the working load of the airconditioner.
- In order to cool the fins on the air conditioning units in the summer season, industrial use water is sprayed on the air conditioning radiator fins in order to cool the units allowing the units to run more efficiently.

Change
The work environment has also been improved due to the heat insulation.
- Better insulate heating furnace

Heat dissipation loss from the furnace was reduced as more efficient insulation was applied.

- Installment of solar panels
- Above the Ueno plant office are solar panels capable of generating 200kW of solar power.
